Contact attributes contain useful information specific to each contact that can be used to personalize interactions with them. Several contact attributes have been provided for you by default such as name, phone number, and address. But you can create custom attributes to save additional information about your contacts.
To create your custom attributes, follow these steps:
- Select Contacts from the hamburger menu on the side navigation
- On your contacts page, select a contact to add attributes to, this will open the contact's slideout.
-
On the contact’s slide-out, click Add Attribute.
-
To add a new attribute, select + Add new attribute.
- Next, click on the data type dropdown to select the data type that will be used to store the attribute value. The data type options available are:
- Text
- Number
-
Boolean(True or False)
- Date
- In the title field enter the attribute name. For best practice, we recommend replacing any spaces in the name with an underscore. For example, instead of 'first name', enter 'first_name'.
-
Next, in the value field, enter a value for the attribute and click Save.
Once the custom attributes have been successfully created, you will be able to view them on your Contacts page. To view custom attributes follow these steps:
-
On the People page, click on the ellipsis icon at the top right-hand corner of the page
-
Next, tick checkboxes next to the attributes you want to be displayed on your contact table and click Update Table. The selected attributes will now be displayed on your contact list table.
